There are hundreds of varieties of Honeysuckle (Lonicera) from around the world. This beautiful garden plant with highly fragrant flowers, is often used in massage oil blends, soaps, cosmetics and lotions. It is a wonderful plant to look at, to smell, and – as a practitioner – to work with. When I was creating the Fusion Massage range, I knew honeysuckle would be the basis of at least one aroma experience. I wanted to bring a sense of ‘being held’ and well-being, to the massage experience. And so, the Infused with NURTURE blend was created.
As a flower essence, Honeysuckle is recommended to anyone overwhelmed with grief, nostalgia, and the belief that they are unable to feel nurtured in the present moment. Helping to restore courage, release old memories that cause pain and trauma, Honeysuckle can support anyone trying to move ahead in life. Some practitioners recommend this aroma when the ‘ability to age gracefully’ is required. I refer to it as my perfect go-to when experiencing any “mid-life crisis” issues!!
The flowers, leaves and seeds have many medicinal uses also. Honeysuckle contains powerful nutrients – minerals, vitamins, calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamin C, Rutin and Quercetin – that collectively work to enable the smooth functioning of all body systems. In traditional Chinese medicine, the flower is linked with the lung, stomach and large intestine meridians.
